Today's Reading: 2 Samuel 5
Please read 2 Samuel 5 and listen to what the Lord Jesus Christ would like to tell you before reading my Spiritual Journal below. If you would like to learn a simple and good way of Daily Devotion method please read my “Count Down 5” from this blog. You may click this link directly for the method: Subject Shifting Devotion.pdf. (You may begin with a song to praise the Lord and complete you devotion by singing another praise song.)

Please click the links below to 2 Samuel 5:
All the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said, "We are your own flesh and blood. In the past, while Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel on their military campaigns. And the Lord said to you, 'You will shepherd my people Israel, and you will become their ruler.'" 2 Samuel 5: 1-2

Today I have been thinking of quite a number of themes, for this is one of my favorite chapter. Why? Because I learned from this chapter how David received different strategies in fighting his enemy. From vv. 17 - 21, the God given strategy was to courageously fight face to face. Then from vv. 22-25, God had a totally different strategy of not going straight up but circle around behind them! For many years, I have followed David's experience to ask for a God reviewed strategy.

But today is different; God moved my heart to the first two verses and gave me today's topic:
Fully support your anointed leader. You can see the mass effect that when a leader is not being supported, the whole nation suffer! Just like the condition in Egypt.

What I have experienced is to learn something about Satan's strategy against us. One of his main strategies is to pull down a leader or make all kinds of reasons for people to not fully support their leader.

We can see in this chapter that when an anointed leader appears, three things will happen:
1. Fully support from his people (vv. 1-4)
2. Increased recognition from outside leaders (Even the king of Tyre sent gifts vv. 11-12)
3. That leader will have the anointing to receive a tailor-made strategy from God(vv. 6-10; 17-25)

You really need to pray for your leaders daily, fully support them, protect them and fight a good fight with them. Don't step into the trap of the Deceiver to have mistrust of your leaders! When you fully support your leaders as they supported David, then everything will be different!

When I checked out of the hotel in Rwanda early in the morning at 4a.m. last Monday, I saw the photo of the President on the wall. By curiosity I asked the porter, "Is your President a good President?" He said, "Yes, yes, yes, he is very, very good!" I said, "Can you use three word to describe how good he is?" He thought for a few second and smiled, "Leadership, always positive thinking and courageous." And when I got in the car, I asked the driver the same question. His answer are almost the same, "Leadership, courageous and very good to the people." You know what I mean? You need to fully support your anointed leader! Please pray for me that I am being fully supported! I need your prayers!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help me to support our leaders and to teach our people to support our leaders. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Welcome! The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christians to have daily devotion - a wonderful and intimate time with Jesus.

There are three reasons for you to use this blog as your daily devotion:
  1. A healthy spiritual diet - One chapter of the Bible daily. We really need at least one chapter of Bible daily so that we are well fed.
  2. A good example of Spiritual Journaling - What I have committed for 1,189 days(the Bible has 1,189 chapters) to write this daily post is not for teaching purposes but this is my daily spiritual journal - I write down what I hear from Jesus and how I experience His intimate relationship with me each day. I have launched a wide-spectrum research on daily devotion and have found out that there are less than 10% of Christians that are having daily devotion. Out of that 10%, many having daily devotion are doing so because of guilt (they know that they are Christians and need to have daily devotion and feel guilty if they don’t do that), duty (they need to fulfill their duty as a Christian) or study(lots of Christians primarily use their daily devotion as a time to study the Bible). I do pray and hope that you will make up your mind to have a relational daily devotion so that you can have an intimate time with Jesus. I pray that you will write your own spiritual journal as well.
  3. An online discipler – One of the reasons that so many Christians do not have daily devotion is because they do not have a discipler. A discipler can help them build up this basic element of discipleship when they first become Christians. The best way for you is to have a discipler to walk with you for a certain period of time so that daily devotion become a good habit. Or, you may have a small group of two to three people to encourage and be accountable to each other so that you won’t stop your daily devotion. I offer myself as your online discipler to walk with you daily to enrich your spiritual journey. So, shall we start this journey with Jesus Christ our Lord now!

  1. Dear Silas,Before I read your blog, and I read and listened to Chapter 5 this morning, the two scriptures given to me were"You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over Israel." and 7."Nevertheless, David took the stronghold...." My note to myself was that David waited upon the Lord. Then I was given a song we used to sing: I will wait upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised. So shall I bring down your enemies! The Lord liveth! and blessed be my Rock and let the God of my salvation be exalted! The Lord Liveth and blessed be my Rock and let the God of my salvation be exalted! 2 Samuel 22:47 (read further on) Then I prayed for our family situation: because of the scripture=" The weapons of are warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds" and because David took the stronghold....
Then I prayed for your family, to bind you together and that the Lord would show you personally what you are to do. I prayed for the ACiC/AI Churches,Bishops ministers and leaders and especially for the financial advisors and treasurers....that the finances would be used to serve God and the people. Then I read and prayed your blog! How Amazing is that??
