DAY 615 - He That Honors Me I Will Honor

This newly designed key chains will be given to all members of ACiC/AI churches on the first Sunday of March (March 6, 2011). Please click this link to my second blog - Discipler 123: http://discipler123.blogspot.com/ You can also listen to my daily podcast in English and Cantonese through this new site.

What is Discipler 123? A campaign starting on the first Sunday of March for three months. It is for one Discipler gathering two friends to meet once a week to have devotion with them and encourage them to have daily devotion all through the three months from March through May.

Praise the Lord that we completed our 600 days/24 hours Prayer Campaign yesterday and have started our 700 days/24 hours Prayer Campaign! We have a new link for you to sign for the new stage. You really need to join us now to pray! The easiest way is to take one hour slot for the whole week.

What you need to do is very simple. Choose one day. The easiest way is to take one hour slot for the whole week then prayerfully remembering the ministry of ACiC(ACiC has two Networks: ACiC, Anglican Coalition in Canada and AI, Asian Initiative). You may use the whole hour in prayer or you can still do your work in your office but use as much time as you can to pray and the other time work prayerfully that hour to pray for our ministry. I deeply believe that this is a way to draw as much participation as we can in prayers. I encourage you to participate. We need you to join us! Trust in the power of prayers!

Please sign up for the 7th stage - 700 days **NEW link for the 7th 100 days 24 hours prayer campaign (April 13 to July 21, 2011)

Today's Reading: 1 Chronicles 17

Please read 1 Chronicles 17 and listen to what the Lord Jesus Christ would like to tell you before reading my Spiritual Journal below. If you would like to learn a simple and good way of Daily Devotion method please read my “Count Down 5” from this blog. You may click this link directly for the method: Subject Shifting Devotion.pdf. (You may begin with a song to praise the Lord and complete you devotion by singing another praise song.)

Then King David went in and sat before the Lord, and he said: "Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?"
1 Chronicles 17: 16

I just arrived in Orlando, Florida ready for four exciting days of Exponential Conference. A Conference to be described as the largest church planting conference in the planet and with speakers Rick Warren, Neil Cole, Reggie McNeal, Ed Stetzer, Francis Chan, Bill Donahue, Bill Easum, Alan Hirsch... You may go to their website (
to learn how wonderful this conference is and maybe you can register for the 2012 one. It is also such a blessing that I can bring our son, Ignatius, to experience this world class conference and have a father and son time for six days!

Jesus reminded me of a very important scene in the movie "Chariots of Fire" of how God honored Eric Liddell when Eric honored God by not running 100 meters in the Olympic on a Sunday. God used that movie as one of His many ways to call me to quit my job and go to seminary in 1982. I remember how Eric Liddell got a little slip from his opponent a minute before his 400 meters final and he took that in his hand and started his historical and victorious running. The small note was from 1 Samuel 2:30, "Says in the Old Book, 'He that honors me I will honor." I watched that movie five times during the time I had my discernment of whether the call was from God. Every time I was in tears when I saw how Eric opened that note and the letter became so big to me:

He that honors me I will honor.

Then he ran, and the music was on, and then we saw the smile of Eric of his face and we heard he say, "Where does the power come from, it's from within... I believe God made me for a purpose. He also made me fast. When I run, I feel His pleasure. "

Last chapter we read how David put his first priority to worship God; then in this chapter we read how God honored David because David honored Him!

I remembered how angry my father was when I told him that night I made a decision to quit my job in the Hong Kong Government because God called me to prepare myself to become an Anglican priest. It was because I broke his dream of having a son to become a high ranking officer in the Government. That was May 1982 and he did understand God's promise was far better than he could ever think of. I earned many times less than I used to but our whole family is being blessed thousands of times more than we ever thought of. He passed away in 1996 and I know that he is smiling there in heaven, for he now understands:

He that honors me I will honor

May God bless you as you digest what I share and listen to a new call from our Lord Jesus Christ. May the Holy Spirit fill you and strengthen you now to do His will and not your will. May the love of our heavenly Father soften your heart so that you are able to love and to be loved.

You got to click the two links of Chariots of Fire to know more about what I said for it's all there. I do pray and hope that God will speak to you through those two links just as he spoke to me in 1982 and a few minutes ago!!!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for your presence in this hotel room in Florida and gave me a message to share with my beloved brothers and sisters. Help us to experience your promise that those who honor you, you will honor. In Jesus name we pray . Amen.

Welcome! The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christians to have daily devotion - a wonderful and intimate time with Jesus. There are three reasons for you to use this blog as your daily devotion.
  1. A healthy spiritual diet - One chapter of the Bible daily. We really need at least one chapter of Bible daily so that we are well fed.

  2. A good example of Spiritual Journaling - What I have committed for 1,189 days(the Bible has 1,189 chapters) to write this daily post is not for teaching purposes but this is my daily spiritual journal - I write down what I hear from Jesus and how I experience His intimate relationship with me each day. I have launched a wide-spectrum research on daily devotion and have found out that there are less than 10% of Christians that are having daily devotion. Out of that 10%, many having daily devotion are doing so because of guilt (they know that they are Christians and need to have daily devotion and feel guilty if they don’t do that), duty (they need to fulfill their duty as a Christian) or study(lots of Christians primarily use their daily devotion as a time to study the Bible). I do pray and hope that you will make up your mind to have a relational daily devotion so that you can have an intimate time with Jesus. I pray that you will write your own spiritual journal as well.

  3. An online discipler – One of the reasons that so many Christians do not have daily devotion is because they do not have a discipler. A discipler can help them build up this basic element of discipleship when they first become Christians. The best way for you is to have a discipler to walk with you for a certain period of time so that daily devotion become a good habit. Or, you may have a small group of two to three people to encourage and be accountable to each other so that you won’t stop your daily devotion. I offer myself as your online discipler to walk with you daily to enrich your spiritual journey. So, shall we start this journey with Jesus Christ our Lord now!

  1. Dear B Silas,
He that honors me I will honor! It reminds me of Deuteronmy 28 1-14, which tell us all the blessings for obedience. It was last year Oct 10 which I read this & was deeply touched. I truly believe that if I can listen & obey to my Lord, He will bless me abundantly. And yes, the power is coming from within. He is the only one who can empower me & strengthen me. I pray that I can seek God's purpose in my life. May His will be done and not mine. Amen.

  2. Thanks Lucy! I guess I need to put Eric's sermon of the movie to the blog tonight so that you and others know how beautiful Rev. Eric Liddell preached on this message "The Spirit is within"!
