Praise the Lord that we have completed 400 days/24 hours Prayer Campaign! Without this prayer shield I think I might not be able to face the storm of Michelle's leukemia. You really need to believe in this kind of power of prayers! You really need to join us! Today's Reading: Joshua 21
Please read Joshua 21 and listen to what the Lord Jesus Christ would like to tell you before reading my Spiritual Journal below. If you would like to learn a simple and good way of Daily Devotion method please read my “Count Down 5” from this blog. You may click this link directly for the method: Subject Shifting Devotion.pdf. Please click the links below to Joshua 21:
So, as the Lord had commanded, the Israelites gave the Levites the following towns and pasturelands out of their own inheritance. Joshua 21: 3

Oh, daily devotion is really so wonderful and powerful! Today as I was just worrying what to write about those giving out of cities to the Levites and waiting for further instruction from Jesus, He led me to this important theme today - You need to pray and love your pastors!

Who wanted to live in those cities of refuge? Staying with the bad guys or suspected bad guys days and nights in the same city? No way!

But all those six cities were given to the Levites. This whole tribe was supposed to be more closer to God as their only job is to serve God. Hebron(v. 13), Shechem(v.21), Golan(v.27), Kedesh(v.32), Bezer(v.36) and Ramoth(v.38).

When I was writing the last sentence, Jesus stopped me and reminded me of how important Hebron and Shechem were. I was speechless in the presence of our Lord, and tears are still running down my face. Yes, we do not know whether those Levites did a good job to transform two cities of refuge but anyway they became two powerful cities in later years!

Then I went on web to have some research of all six cities of refuge and found out the importance of Hebron and Shechem. Kedesh also has some significance in the Bible:

Hebron - It was King David's capital during the earlier part of his reign (2 Sam. 5: 3-5). During the later history of the nation, it continued to be a place of importance, and it still has a large population.

Shechem - Rehoboam was crowned in Shechem following the death of Solomon (1 Kings 12:1). Shehem briefly served as Jeroboam's capital following the division of the Kingdom into the Northern and Southern Kingdoms(1 Kings 12:25).

Kedesh - Deborah assembled the tribes of Zebulun and Naphtali before the commencement of the conflict with Sisera in the plain of Esdraelon. (Judges 4: 6 - 10)

Those cities were the cities no one would like to enter, but the Levites had to give those "bad guys" a second chance and then to care, love and nourish those people! The Levites are somewhat similar to pastors nowadays. We as pastors are doing similar things that most people don't want to, and no one knows how difficult the job really is. That's why there are quite a number of pastors who burn-out, resign or quit totally! Pastors need your prayers, encouragements, love and every action you can give, for we are just human! Don't let the Devil hurt your pastors; instead choose to protect them, love them , care for them and most important of all - pray for them daily! The power of daily prayer for your pastors is beyond your imagination!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for your powerful presence and word of wisdom today. Holy Spirit come and anoint us that we can pray and love our pastors. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Welcome! The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christians to have daily devotion - a wonderful and intimate time with Jesus.

There are three reasons for you to use this blog as your daily devotion:
  1. A healthy spiritual diet - One chapter of the Bible daily. We really need at least one chapter of Bible daily so that we are well fed.
  2. A good example of Spiritual Journaling - What I have committed for 1,189 days(the Bible has 1,189 chapters) to write this daily post is not for teaching purposes but this is my daily spiritual journal - I write down what I hear from Jesus and how I experience His intimate relationship with me each day. I have launched a wide-spectrum research on daily devotion and have found out that there are less than 10% of Christians that are having daily devotion. Out of that 10%, many having daily devotion are doing so because of guilt (they know that they are Christians and need to have daily devotion and feel guilty if they don’t do that), duty (they need to fulfill their duty as a Christian) or study(lots of Christians primarily use their daily devotion as a time to study the Bible). I do pray and hope that you will make up your mind to have a relational daily devotion so that you can have an intimate time with Jesus. I pray that you will write your own spiritual journal as well.
  3. An online discipler – One of the reasons that so many Christians do not have daily devotion is because they do not have a discipler. A discipler can help them build up this basic element of discipleship when they first become Christians. The best way for you is to have a discipler to walk with you for a certain period of time so that daily devotion become a good habit. Or, you may have a small group of two to three people to encourage and be accountable to each other so that you won’t stop your daily devotion. I offer myself as your online discipler to walk with you daily to enrich your spiritual journey. So, shall we start this journey with Jesus Christ our Lord now!

The the Lord said to Joshua, "Tell the Israelites to designate the cities of refuge, as I instructed you through Moses, so that anyone who kills a person accidentally and unintentionally may flee there and find protection from the avenger of blood. Joshua 20: 1-3

God instructed Moses many years before and now instructed Joshua to designate the cities of refuge. All the cities were strategically located so that wherever a person might be, he would have ready access to one of them. How merciful God is!

If you are discouraged today and think that you are going to quit, this is the word of the Lord to you, "Don't quit! You've got a second chance. And you need me to carry you through. Don't use your own wisdom or your own way. Come back to me"

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for your love, your mercy and your forgiveness. Help me to be in you, for you are my refuge and stronghold. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

The fortified cities were Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, Kinnereth, Adamah, Ramah, Hazor, Kedesh, Edrei, En Hazor, Iron, Migdal El, Horem, Beth Anath and Beth Shemesh. There were nineteen towns and their villages. Joshua 19: 35-38

Yesterday I wrote that it seems funny for Joshua to say that, "Why wait? It's yours!" And then he completed the hard work of allotment. Did those people go ahead and get their promised cities, villages and land? Some did but most did not. It recorded in the first chapter of Judges that because of their lack of faith, they could not drive lots of people out and later destruction came.

So today when I was still thinking of what Joshua said, "Why wait? It's yours!", Jesus gave me a general reply of those people, "No, thank you!" " You want us to drive out those fortified cities? Oh, no way! Thank you very much! I am satisfy with my small piece of land."

Is that you? God wants to give you some challenges so that your boundaries can be extended. But, because of our little faith, most of the time we reply, "No, thank you!"

Dear Lord Jesus,
When you want to give me challenges Lord, help me to be able to say to you, "Yes, please Lord!" In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

How little faith we have! Why are you waiting? Maybe you don't even know what the Lord has given you, waiting for you to claim it. Well, if that is so, then you need to be more close to the Lord. But, if you have something that you think the Lord has already promised, then what you need is to take action and courage to take possession of those things. Don't wait anymore!

There is nothing worse than being very powerful and not knowing that!

The iron chariots were equal to heavy tanks in modern warfare, and even so we can drive all those heavy tanks out. There is no enemy around us that God can not drive out. The problem is that we often do not know that we can be so powerful in God.

Are you facing with some heavy tanks that want to tear you apart, whether sickness, opposition or bad habits. Trust in the Lord that in Him, you can be very powerful to have a big win.

What I heard from Jesus in this very short chapter is a simple message: Whatever you say Sir, I'm OK

Do you think it was so easy for those tribes to not argue about what they received? No, that was not easy. It shows the fruit of how those leaders experienced God through Moses and the trust they had in Moses that he could do this difficult job so easily. I do pray and hope that someday I can do things that easily! Would you pray for me daily that this day will come, please?

I was in awe as I read this chapter. It is because this morning Michelle and I were in Rev. Dr. Paul Chun Chi Ng's hotel room and he prayed for us. He had a vision about a picture of how the Lord is going to extend our boundary in the coming eight to ten years. We were greatly encouraged by being prayed and blessed by him. And when I read this chapter, it is all about "Boundary extended". Wonderful!

What I think that Jesus wants to tell us are two things:
1. Do you believe that He has prepared an extended boundary for us to claim just like what I wrote two days ago. Do you have faith and guts to take those land?

2. Do you believe your boundary will be extended? Have you prepared for that? How do you prepare, and are you willing to enter into this preparation process?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to prepare ourselves so that we can be used by you to extend your Kingdom. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
