Bible Study

Therefore speak to them and tell them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: When any Israelite sets up idols in his heart and puts a wicked stumbling block before his face and then goes to a prophet, I the Lord will answer him myself in keeping with his great idolatry. I will do this to recapture the hearts of the people of Israel, who have all deserted me for their idols.’

“Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Repent! Turn from your idols and renounce all your detestable practices! Ezekiel 14: 4-6

This chapter shows that some of the important leaders of Israel were guilty of idolatry in their hearts. They were not loyal to God but had allowed other things to take priority over the Lord. They rejected God's purposes and desired an ungodly lifestyle. For this reason, God refused to guide them or answer their prayers. Also, God would destroy any prophet who tolerated, supported or encouraged the Israelites to worship false gods or other things in place of the true God. The judgment coming against Jerusalem was so certain that even Noah, Daniel and Job who were known for their intense prayers could not help rescue anyone by their prayers.
Those today who look for God's guidance will find no help from God if their hearts are filled with ungodly desires and their priorities are not focused on God. God will judge and punish those who profess to believe in him but still reject him so they can pursue an immoral lifestyle. People like this are hypocrites who make themselves enemies of God. They should repent and give up their sinful ways but not to pretend to follow Christ in their church.

Do you have anything in your life already take priority so that you can not focus on Jesus?

My Spiritual Journal

What I got from Jesus today is: Don't let other things to take priority!

Today I receive a very striking and important invitation from Jesus. To be idolaters doesn't need a big gesture of worshiping idols because for most Christians we won't. But Jesus leads me to focus on three things to test whether we have already unintentionally worshiping some idols according to verses 4 to 6:
1. Receive something to our hearts which means take priority in our daily life.
2. Because of those things taking priority we "deserted" Jesus for those things.
3. Those things will become "detestable practices".

First of all, we need to find out what those things are. Then we need to repent by stop doing those things. The tradition of the church use Lent (the forty days before Easter Sunday, excluding Sundays) to ask Christians to stop doing one thing like not eating sweets, drinking wine, playing computer games, face book, TV ... anything that you suspect already take priority that you cannot focus on Jesus.

Now, this morning is really terrible. Jesus reveals to me that my way of playing some computer games already takes priority so that I cannot focus on Him. So, I am going to stop playing any kind of computer games for 40 days staring now. Well, they are good games like golf, war games, bridge etc.. You know you can get all kinds of games in your computer, cel phone and iPad. The best way to see if we become addicted to something is to stop for 40 days. That's how Jesus being invited by the Holy Spirit to the desert to test by the Holy Spirit and to tempt by the Devil of the three main temptations in anyone's life: money, power and sex. He wins but we always lose!

We need to go to the "desert" prepared by the Holy Spirit so that we won't "desert" Jesus! (Ezekiel 14: 5)

So, for 40 days no computer games for me to see if I am addicted to those games. What about you?

Don't let other things to take priority other than Jesus!
Jesus is Lord, He is Lord of all!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for giving me this challenge today that I will not become an idolater without knowing that that is idolatry. Help us to be able to focus on you each day that we we can free to worship you as our Lord and not worshiping other things. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Bible Study

You have not gone up to the breaks in the wall to repair it for the house of Israel so that it will stand firm in the battle on the day of the Lord.
Ezekiel 13:5

This chapter condemns the false prophets who were saying that judgment was not coming. They seduced the Jews into a false sense of security by proclaiming peace and salvation while they continued to be stubborn, rebellious and unfaithful. God would cut them off from Israel and his salvation.

Also, some women were involved in sorcery, spiritism and black magic. These women would have the same they would face with the same judgment from God.

Nowadays we are in the similar situation all over the world. There are false leaders in the church who teach that a person can be a genuine believer and have eternal life with Christ, yet at the same time living in a lifestyle in sin according to the Bible, such as adultery, homosexuality or greed. Paul states that those who do such things will not inherit God's kingdom (1 Cor. 6:9, Gal. 5:21 and Eph. 5:5).

Ezekiel states clearly that as true prophets and servants of God they need to repair the wall for the house of Israel so that it will stand firm in the battle on the day of the Lord.

My Spiritual Journal

What I got from Jesus today is: Repair the wall now!

Jesus gives me a clear command to repair the wall now as a servant of God. He wants me to deliver the same command to you that each one of God's servant has the same duty to repair the wall.

Well, the message I received today is this:
1. You need to have Jesus as your Lord and have an intimate relationship with Him first. Without that you can't see, you can't hear and you can't do anything Jesus commands you to do. Just false prophets and false servants of God!
2. You need the Holy Spirit to tell you where the breaks are. They can be in your life, in your family, in your church...
3. You need to be anointed by the Holy Spirit so that you have the gifts, anointing and authority from God to repair the wall. Because that is not an easy job to do!
4. Keep on repairing, mending the wall and not like some people criticizing, accusing, breaking, destroying everything. You see something wrong, a break in the wall of God's work, why don't you go there to repair it yourself. Why you participate in the Deceiver's cunning plan to make the break bigger?!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be willing to repair the wall for your Kingdom work right now. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
