Bible Study

You need to know that this chapter hoes back to the beginning years that Jeremiah's secretary, Baruch, started to record Jeremiah's letter. It happened on the fourth year of King Jehoiakim's reign in Jerusalem. The message was to encourage Baruch who was discouraged because of the failure of Jeremiah's ministry and the impending judgment on Judah (Ch. 36). God warned him not to seek a position of power for himself because his loyalty to Jeremiah and his faithfulness to God's message would help him to survive Jerusalem's destruction.

My Spiritual Journal

What I got from Jesus today is: Don't seek great things for yourself?

The theme I got from Jesus is so contradictory to what normal human beings things and do each day. People like to say, "We want to do great things! We want to be famous! We want to be top No. 1."

But God said to Baruch, "I will overthrow what I have built and uproot what I have planted, throughout the land. Should you then seek great things for yourself? Seek them not. For I will bring disaster on all people."

But then God, "But wherever you go I will let you escape with your life."

I do hope and pray that you get this message from our Lord Jesus Christ today!
You need to know that only God is in total control, don't be that fool that Jesus describes to save up all those things he has thinking that he can have years to enjoy! Life is not in our control! Come back to Jesus!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to know that you can the only one who is in total control. Lead us not into our own selfish plan to seek great things for ourselves. Change us that we can do great things for you and to extend your mighty Kingdom. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
