Today's Reading: Jeremiah 49

"Why do you boast of your valleys,
boast of your valleys so fruitful?
O unfaithful daughter,
you trust in your riches and say,
'Who will attack me?'
I will bring terror on you from all those around you,"
declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.
The terror you inspire and the pride of your heart have deceived you,
you who live in the clefts of the rocks,
who occupy the heights of the hill.
Though you build your nest as high as the eagle's,
from there I will bring you down," declares the Lord.

Bible Study
Ammonites were descendants of Abraham's nephew, Lot, who lived east of the Jordan River and north of Moab. There had history of hostility toward Israel.
Edomites were descendants of Jacob's twin brother, Esau. Living in the mountainous region south of the Dead Sea, they had a history of conflict with Israel.Moab was on the eastern shore of the Dead Sea. The Moabites were descendants of Lot, Abraham's nephew (Genesis 19: 30-37). The Moabites were often in conflict with Israel.
What were their sins that caused their destruction? Well, some what like the Moabites in the last chapter:
1. Idolatry and trust in riches.
2. Pride and terror
Let's ask the Holy Spirit to search our soul if we have that kind of sins!
My Spiritual Journal
What I got from Jesus today is: Similar pattern of sins!
History just repeats and repeats! And, human weaknesses just repeats and repeats!
How can we stop this repetition to happen in our lives?
Very difficult! What I've got today is first we need to be honest that we are human beings and have a tendency to sin. Second, we need to ask Jesus to help to remind us of those same pattern of sins like "idolatry, trust in riches, pride" or "Money, power and sex". Thirdly, we need the Holy Spirit to reveal our sins if we have any. Fourthly, we need the blood of Jesus to cleanse our sins and follow Him as our Lord and Savior daily. Fifthly, to be filled and anointed by the Holy Spirit that we can be more and more Christ-like and to be able to do His Kingdom work.
I don't think there is another way!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be able to get rid of those similar pattern of sins and to follow you as our Lord and Savior. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
