“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”
Matthew 26:41
Jesus reminded me this morning of how cunning Satan is as an opportunist. In the beginning of His ministry right after He was baptized He was tempted by Satan three times. He won and His ministry started but it was recorded like this:
When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time. Luke 4:13
Then Satan came back in the most opportune time when Jesus was betrayed by the betrayer, Judas, and denied by his beloved apostle, Peter. All his disciples deserted Him and fled.
But do you know what Jesus' secret was?
Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” Matthew 26: 40 – 41
Sooner or later the opportunist, Satan will come to tempt you and you will have no way out but to fall into the temptation. Only if you can watch and pray so that you can still be in the presence and protection of Jesus (no matter how difficult the situation is), then you will be able not step into that trap.
That is why we need to pray 100 days/24 hours started 47 days ago. You may be thinking now that you know. Knowing is not enough; it's the doing that leads us to win over the Deceiver.
