But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. "Everything is permissible for me"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"—but I will not be mastered by anything. 1 Corinthians 6: 11-12
Jesus gives us two questions today to examine our daily lifestyle:
1. Are you in the path of sanctification?
2. Are you mastered by anything other than me?
I have heard from some friends in Toronto that some strip dancing nightclub ran out of business because lots of their customers are in pornography through the web, so they didn’t go there for paid service anymore. Sexual immorality is far more serious than this, for lots of Christians are mastered by all kinds of sexual immoral habits including pre-marital sex, sleeping with prostitutes, adultery and pornography.
If you are being mastered by those lifestyles that are against God’s standard, then you need to stop, repent and ask for the blood of Christ to cleanse you so that you can be in the path of sanctification again.
How do you honor God with your body (v. 20)? This is the challenge from Jesus today!
Dear Holy Spirit,
Help me to examine myself daily whether I am in the path of sanctification so that I will not fall into the trap of the Deceiver. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
