Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church.

1 Corinthians 14: 12

Jesus drew my attention to some important words: strengthening, encouragement, comfort, build, order, peace and love. On the other hand, Christians in the church of Corinth challenged Paul, “Do you know how to speak in tongues and other spiritual gifts? Show us if you really know.” And Paul answered, “I can of course but I don’t want to show. Don’t be a child, grow up man.”

If you have received some spiritual gifts and you do not use those gifts to strengthen, encourage, comfort, build, love and to do everything in a fitting and orderly way, then you are not building but may be killing!

Dear Lord Jesus,

Help me to build and not to kill. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
