DAY 157 - Rich Generosity, Proof of Love

Today’s Reading: 2 Corinthians 8

Please read 2 Corinthians 8: 1 – 24 and listen to what the Lord Jesus Christ would like to tell you before reading my Spiritual Journal below. If you would like to learn a simple and good way of Daily Devotion method please read my “Count Down 5” from this blog. You may click this link directly for the method: Subject Shifting Devotion.pdf . (You may begin with a song to praise the Lord and complete you devotion by singing another praise song.)

Please click the links below to 2 Corinthians 8:

Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. 2 Corinthians 8: 2-3

Do you think there is a relationship with how much you love Jesus and how much you make your offerings? Paul says there is. He gave the example of how the Macedonian churches made their offerings in the midst of their most severe trial.

The significant word “Grace”(charis), found ten times in 2 Cor 8-9, reminds us of what we need to exercise our grace in order to respond to God’s grace. The more we experience how gracious God is, the more we will increase our weekly offerings. Paul makes a point in the last verse of this chapter that their making a love offering is the proof of their love so that other churches could see. Paul said, “I am so pleased with you!”

May we increase our offerings to God in our home church and beyond so as to exercise this proof of our love.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help me to offer as much as I can to respond to your gracious love. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Many wonderful things have happened in the past 100 days. Can we follow our King, our Shepherd, our Lord Jesus Christ to use an hour’s time to pray for His protection and blessings to my new ministry as the Bishop of ACiC/AI, all our ACiC/AI clergy, leaders and people? Pray that in the Holy and Mighty Name of Jesus Christ our Lord, we can win over Satan's tricks, in order to strengthen our brothers and sisters so that His Kingdom will be extended. Please click this new link to participate in our 2nd phase 100 days/24 hours Prayer Campaign (Nov 29, 2009 to March 8, 2010)
