Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." Genesis 1: 26
The Friday four weeks ago we had a big shock to know that Michelle has leukemia. The past four weeks has been the most difficult time for our whole family. Yesterday I completed my daily spiritual journal on the New Testament and today we start the first word of the Bible - In the beginning God created. I do humbly hope and pray that God will make today a new beginning of our family. We pray that just like what Ignatius received from Jesus four weeks ago from John 11 that Michelle's crisis will bring us to a new grounds of believing.
Indeed, we have experienced numerous acts of God and love from our dear brothers and sisters. This will surely turns into a new chapter of our faith journey and a new grounds of believing. How wonderful it is when we can hear what God says!
When God said we would be created in his own image and likeness and that we could rule over things, we miss something. God never said that we should rule over each other. Human beings are being created to love each others and live in unity to make heaven on earth. But the history of mankind shows the pain of our trying to be God and wanting to rule others. In the process, we are destroying the goodness of God's creation! Everything is "I said" but not "God said"!
God said what? Do you remember?
Let's have a new beginning to follow what God said to lead a life of Christ-likeness and to bring goodness to His creation.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for creating me in your own likeness. Help me to listen more carefully to what you said and not rule over others but be fruitful. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
