DAY 242 - What Do You Often See and Worship?

Please click this NEW LINK to pray for us(March 9, 2010 to June 16)!!!

Today’s Reading: Revelation 4

Welcome! The purpose of this blog is to encourage Christians to have daily devotion - a wonderful and intimate time with Jesus.

There are three reasons for you to use this blog as your daily devotion:
1. A healthy spiritual diet - One chapter of the Bible daily. We really need at least one chapter of Bible daily so that we are well fed.

2. A good example of Spiritual Journaling - What I have committed for 1,189 days(the Bible has 1,189 chapters)to write this daily post is not for teaching purposes but this is my daily spiritual journal - I write down what I hear from Jesus and how I experience His intimate relationship with me each day. I have launched a wide-spectrum research on daily devotion and have found out that there are less than 10% of Christians that are having daily devotion. Out of that 10%, many having daily devotion are doing so because of guilt (they know that they are Christians and need to have daily devotion and feel guilty if they don’t do that), duty (they need to fulfill their duty as a Christian) or study(lots of Christians primarily use their daily devotion as a time to study the Bible). I do pray and hope that you will make up your mind to have a relational daily devotion so that you can have an intimate time with Jesus. I pray that you will write your own spiritual journal as well.

3. An online discipler – One of the reasons that so many Christians do not have daily devotion is because they do not have a disciple. A discipler can help them build up this basic element of discipleship when they first become Christians. The best way for you is to have a discipler to walk with you for a certain period of time so that daily devotion become a good habit. Or, you may have a small group of two to three people to encourage and be accountable to each other so that you won’t stop your daily devotion. I offer myself as your online disciple to walk with you daily to enrich your spiritual journey. So, shall we start this journey with Jesus Christ our Lord now!

Please read Revelation 4 and listen to what the Lord Jesus Christ would like to tell you before reading my Spiritual Journal below. If you would like to learn a simple and good way of Daily Devotion method please read my “Count Down 5” from this blog. You may click this link directly for the method:Subject Shifting Devotion.pdf. (You may begin with a song to praise the Lord and complete you devotion by singing another praise song.)

After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, "Come up here and I will show you what must take place after this." At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. Revelation 4: 1-2

What I received from Jesus today is a question to all of us:
What do you often see and worship?

How do you answer this question from Jesus Christ our Lord?

Many people see lots of things and people daily but not God. Many people worship lots of things and people daily except God. What John experienced is seeing how the elders, angels and archangels were worshiping God in heaven. No matter the five churches were in sins or the two churches were facing with sufferings, they needed to see this vision in heaven daily that they can deal with their things on earth daily.

The purpose of our lives is to worship God and to give God glory and honor and power; instead we give glory and honor and power to all other things except God. So we are not able to be with Jesus, for He is not in us. Therfore can not deal with sufferings, for we are away from the holiness, glory, honor and power of His Kingdom.

Tomorrow Michelle will receive her last two chemo packs and she has to rest and wait for a week. Then she needs to have the painful bone marrow test again to see if all the cancer cells were removed. If so, then she needs to have two more similar chemo as an outpatient treatment coming to VGH a few hours a day for the chemo. If not then, she has to stay in the hospital to have another more intensive cycle. Some people stay in this ward for nearly a year! She is well today. Every reading is on the good side, so let's pray on that all the cancer cells can be removed tomorrow!

Dear Lord Jesus,
In the midst of our seeing so many things and worshiping so many many things, help us to worship you only so I can enter into this heavenly worship with the elders, angels and archangels daily! In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

  1. dear silas and michelle:

when i heard about michelle's diagnosis, i felt terrible and wonderful (after i read the blog) at the same time...it's often at our weakest and most miserable that we feel God's hand on us the most clearly. recently i have felt god open up my heart. i have received more love, friendship, grace and blessings through my own difficulties. although i knew about your blog since kitty's visit, i did not visit until now. and it is yet another one of god's way of showing me that he works in mysterious and WONDERFUL ways, because michelle and you and your sons are such an inspiration to me. your reliance on god and your faith is AMAZING to me. thank you so much for sharing your struggles with us. i heard clear as a bell the other day, "do not be afraid". let us not fear, but live in hope.

  3. Dear Sandy,
Praise the Lord for revealing how He turns Michelle's suffering into His blessings for so many in just the past 10 days! There is only in sufferings that we might have a chance to know that Jesus is still in control and we cannot be in control any more.

You need to know that both Michelle and I were at shock and facing with the biggest challenge of our lives and if not for our personal simple but intimate relationship with Jesus we might fall into a depression and darkness that we cannot not get out.

How can we not be afraid when sooner or later we have to face with some crisis we can not deal with. At least no one can escape "death" and besides this No. 1 killer there are lots of things in the midst of life can scare us. That will be the time to test our faith! Is Jesus in or out of you life? Is He really you Savior, Lord and King? Faith is so real and so relational, without this daily relationship with Jesus no matter how well we think we are we have nothing!

So Sandy, you are in a very important crossroad of your life! Jesus is your only hope! May the Holy Spirit be always with you!

And thanks for your prayers and encouragements, our dear good friends Alice and Johnson!
