“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”Matthew3:2
Last week when I was having a meeting with quite a number of clergy, we discussed that there might be a great number of Christians who do not think that they need repentance. Others need to repent but they don’t for they think they are OK. Our conclusion is this is one of the major reasons why the Church always has so many problems.
This morning the Lord Jesus told me the same thing, “There is no repentance!”
I still remember many years ago when a very senior priest told me and other clergy, “I don’t know why we have so many things to repent? That’s why when people say the confession, I never say it. But I have to read the absolution if I am the officiant.” I was shocked at that time. His words and facial expression of “pride” still haunted me.
What I have been experiencing is when I ask the Holy Spirit to review my sins each day and when I repent, I am in His Kingdom again. Just like John 3: 16 – 17, I usually experience the filling and the fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit and the close relationship with our heavenly father. And I have confidence that my work for Him is well pleased.
Dear Holy Spirit,
Review my sins daily that I can repent and experience the sweetness of the coming of His Kingdom in my life daily. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
