who have ears but do not hear:
Should you not fear me?" declares the Lord.
Jeremiah 5: 21-22
Bible Study
This chapter describes Jerusalem had become so morally and spiritual corrupt that it appeared as if there was no one in the city who loved God's truth and desired a right relationship with him.(vv. 1-9) Those who had been entrusted with the nation's spiritual well-being were guilty of betraying God. Those prophets prophesy lies!
Instead of listening to God just as in today's Discipler 123 blog of Jesus saying the "Shema"(listen), they chose not to listen and not to see. They chose to have stubborn and rebellious hearts and not to fear the Lord. So, the consequence is that they had lots of things to fear of. Instead of listening to how to love God and love our neighbour they needed to listen to God's judgment on them. They needed to listen to the coming of the destruction. No way out because they did not choose the Way!
Are we one of the foolish and senseless people? Are you willing to listen?
My Spiritual Journal
What I receive from Jesus is: Hear this, you foolish and senseless people!
What I got from Jesus is that we have to admit that lots of time we are just like those foolish and senseless people when our hearts are just as stubborn and rebellious as those Jews.
What is the opposite of stubborn and rebellious? Teachable and Faithful!
Are you teachable and faithful?
Dear Holy Spirit,
Come and shine on us that we can see who we really are. Reveal deep down in us if we are one of those foolish and senseless people. Help us to be a teachable and faithful disciple of Jesus. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
