Bible Study

This is the second vision Isaiah got from God of the destruction of Babylon.
His first vision of the destruction of Babylon is from 13: 1 to 14: 23. Actually from chapter 13 to 23 records judgement pronounced on foreign nations and also on a spiritually rebellious Jerusalem. Isaiah starts with Babylon and Assyria then to smaller nations. These chapters teach that all nations and peoples are accountable to God. Those who oppose and reject God and his plan of salvation will be judged, while those who accept and follow him will ultimately triumph.

In verse 21, John, the author of Revelation had the same words in his visions as in Revelation 14: 8 and 18: 1-3. He prophesied that the end-time Babylon - a symbol of all nations and people that oppose Christ and his followers would be destroyed.

Look, here comes a man in a chariot with a team of horses.
And he gives back the answer:
'Babylon has fallen, has fallen!
All the images of its gods lie shattered on the ground!'
Isaiah 21: 9

A second angel followed and said, "Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great,
which made all the nations drink the maddening wine of her adulteries."
Revelation 14: 8

After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven.
He had great authority, and the earth was illuminated by his splendor.
With a mighty voice he shouted:
"Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!
She has become a home for demons and a haunt for every evil spirit,
a haunt for every unclean and detestable bird.
For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries.
The kings of the earth committed adultery with her,
and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries."
Revelation 18: 1-3

My Spiritual Journal

What I received from Jesus today is: Get rid of excessive luxuries!

What I got from Jesus are two things:
1. God in total control
With all the control of those nations as Babylon, Assyria and other smaller nations, God used them to teach his people some lessons. And, when that purpose is done then those nation, no matter how great that is, they will be no more! So, we do not need to fear of anything. Nothing is greater and more powerful than God! Not trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, danger, sword(cancer, being attacked or killed) shall separate us from the love of Christ(Romans 8: 35)

2. Get rid of excessive luxuries
The Babylon kingdom symbols excessive luxuries and all kinds of sins. Thousands of years ago and thousands of years later. Many people have been living in a value system of Babylon of that mentality of excessive luxuries yet we do not know, do not care and do not want to change.
Just two days ago I was talking to a young man and he told me he like a kind of brand name clothes. The brand is "Silas". I said, "Wow! That's good. I need to get some." He said, "Ya, get some." Then I asked, "How much is this pant? $40" He smiled and said, "No! It's on sale, well, about $100. It should be more than $200." That's just a small example of how real we are living in the kingdom of Babylon and yet we do not know!

Let us get rid of living in excessive luxuries!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to get rid of excessive luxuries that we live in your Kingdom value and not the value of the kingdom of Babylon. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
