Bible Study

Jeremiah had preached intensely for 23 years, but the people had not listened. He had desperately urged them to turn from their idol worship and their wicked behavior, but they had remained stubborn and unfaithful!

God sent other prophets to warn Judah including Uriah, Zephaniah and Habakkuk, but they were still stubborn and unteachable!

Jeremiah prophesied that Judah would remain in exile for approximately 70 years and they did. The 70 years began in the fourth year of King Jehoiakim (605 B.C.), when the first set of captives was carried off to Babylon, and continued through the time when a group of Israelites returned to Jerusalem in 538 B.C.

"But you did not listen to me," declares the Lord, "and you have provoked me with what your hands have made, and you have brought harm to yourselves."
Jeremiah 25: 7

Do we know that we could have brought harm to ourselves if we are stubborn and unteachable?

My Spiritual Journal

What I receive from Jesus is: We have brought harm to ourselves!

By our inborn stubbornness and an unteachable heart we surely have brought harm to ourselves and yet we might not know at all!

In four months time is my 25 years of ordination as a deacon and 24 years ordination of a priest. Jeremiah had been preaching hard for 23 years and those people did not listen. I have been preaching hard for 25 years and I have experienced same situation.

Praise the Lord that after four months of intensive ministry to my neighbour Margaret, I successful led her to accept Jesus as her Lord and Savior! Thanks especially to Sandy Yeung and May Leung for their hard work of the past four months that we can joyfully say "GOAL"!!!

It's so easy that because of our stubbornness and unfaithful we harm ourselves. On the other hand, it is so easy that because of our being teachable and faithful we receive many blessings!

It's your choice, blessing or cursing!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us not to bring harm to ourselves and that we can be teachable and faithful. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
