Bible Study
Isaiah told the Jews why they had to face destruction of their country. It was because they made and worship idols(vv. 9-20). If they returned to God then they would be redeemed by God.
Isaiah gave the Jews two prophecies:
1. Isaiah identifies Cyrus by name as the one who would initiate the Jews' release from captivity (v. 28). This prophecy was made 150 years before it happened. This chapter talks about how God rescues His people from Babylonian captivity. The act of God's love was shown both in his discipline and his deliverance.
2. Isaiah also prophesied on the out pouring of the Holy Spirit which partially fulfilled on the day of Pentecost. It will be completely fulfilled when Israel accepts Jesus christ as the Messiah and they will experience spiritual refreshment, renewal, restoration, blessing and growth (vv. 3-4)
My Spiritual Journal
What I receive from Jesus is: Do not be afraid? Why?
"This is what the Lord says-
Israel's King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty:
I am the first and I am the last;
apart from me there is no God."
Isaiah 44: 6
Why we need to be afraid when God is our King and Redeemer?
The whole history of mankind is in him and we are only a point in the history, why we need to be afraid?
The only thing we need to afraid of is that we rely on those idols and do not worship and honor God as the only God!
If Isaiah could prophesied the release of the Israelites 150 years before, the coming of the Holy Spirit 700 years before then who are we to be afraid that God can not save us?
Dear Lord Jesus,
Open our eyes to see your greatness so that we will never be afriad. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
