No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. 1 Corinthians 10: 13

Paul states clearly to Christians in Corinth the consequence of sin which their forefathers in Moses' time fell into: idolatry, sexual immorality, testing the Lord and grumbling. Paul gives them and us a warning so that we won’t fall into the same trap. These are the temptations that Paul says are common to us. If you are in one or more of these temptations now, do you see the way out?

Let me give you a recent example. Recently a parishioner came to me asking for help. He got himself into the addiction of playing a computer game. As a result, he couldn’t sleep for six weeks and could not come to church for six weeks. The game became his idol and he worshipped this idol rather than God, but he wasn't aware that this was idolatry. He saw the way out by coming to me at last, seeking for help. I led him to repent and re-commit his life to Jesus, having a healing prayer for him. He deleted that game when he went home, and slept like a baby that night.

Don’t under estimate the force of temptations. When you are tempted, you need to pray to the Lord so that you can see the way out provided by Him. There is no other way that you can get out, other than Jesus’ way!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help me to stand firm and not to step into those old tricks of the Devil. And when I am tempted, please show me the way out. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
