We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians, and opened wide our hearts to you. We are not withholding our affection from you, but you are withholding yours from us. As a fair exchange - I speak as to my children – open wide your hearts also.
2 Corinthians 6: 11 - 13

Paul states so clearly that the real problem in the church of Corinthians were his fellow workers there. For the past 2,000 years of church history, churches never shrink because of persecution outside but churches shrink and some died because there are internal divisions. Paul uses words like “stumbling block” and “discredited” to give his fellow workers some hints that they should not fall into those traps.

Paul was also being accused of withholding his affection to his fellow workers, but Paul said it is not him but they who were withholding. How sad it is that Christian leaders accuse other fellow workers of being stumbling block, discrediting them and throwing them into lots of hardships as described in vv.5 to 10.

I have been trying all my best to open wide my heart, but I can’t force people to open their hearts to me. I pray that we can learn from Paul’s teaching that we can open wide our hearts to the Lord and to each others.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help me to open my heart fully to you and to others that your Name may be glorified. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
