Today's Reading: Jeremiah 16

"When you tell these people all this and they ask you, "Why has the Lord decreed such a great disaster against us? What wrong have we done? What sin have we committed against the Lord our God?"
Jeremiah 16: 10
Bible Study
God put certain restrictions on Jeremiah's life that would serve as object lessons for the people when the time of judgment came:
1. Not to marry and have children
2. Not to mourn or show sympathy at a funeral meal
3. Not to take part in celebrations
All the restrictions is to show that disaster will come and they are not under God's blessing anymore.
Then Jeremiah prophesies that God will pay the people back in double for their wickedness and give them what their sins deserved. Then God will restore them to the land with their going back to their homeland and the coming of the Messiah in His time. Jeremiah also see a day when people of all nations would worship the one true God and renounced their false gods as worthless idols. and will payMoses and Samuel were extremely close to God and very effective in praying for their people. God always responded to them when they pleaded with him for the people of Israel. Now there was no one even Moses and Samuel who could prevent the coming disaster.

My Spiritual Journal
What I receive from Jesus is: Why? What wrong have we done?
There are lots of time when disaster come is because of the same two key words I got in the past few weeks from Isaiah and Jeremiah - Stubbornness and Unfaithfulness. ((vv. 11-12).
What God wants us is the reverse of our sins then curse will be turn into blessings and that is - Teachable and Faithfulness(vv. 21).
Do you know how stubborn you really are though you are a good Christian?
Do you know how unfaithful you really are worshiping other things, spending more time in other things than in God's thing?
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to know what's wrong in us so that we are not stubborn and unfaithful anymore and become teachable and faithful to you. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
