Today's Reading: Jeremiah 17

If you would like to learn a simple and good way of Daily Devotion method please read my “Count Down 5” from this blog. You may click this link directly for the method: Subject Shifting Devotion.pdf. Please click the links below to Jeremiah 17:

"Curse is the one who trusts in man,
who depends on flesh for his strength
and whose heart turns away from the Lord."

"But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
He will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit."
Jeremiah 16: 5, 7-8

Bible Study

Jeremiah condemns Israel for its wickedness and as a result of their stubbornness and unfaithfulness to God, they would lose their land and become slaves.

But, those who trust in the Lord will be blessed and ultimately rewarded with earthly and eternal benefits. They do not have to worry any situation beause the roots of their life go deep into God.

To use keeping Sabbath as an example, what the Israelites have to change and do is to listen and obey to God's command, nothing more and nothing less.

My Spiritual Journal

What I receive from Jesus is: You can take the heat!

Our whole family of four and a family from Richmond Emmanuel Church(Simon, Rebecca and Elaine Cheung, Brian Lee)are in Pasadena now waiting for the Hooding ceremony tomorrow and the Commencement for my Doctoral of Ministry degree of Fuller Theological Seminary Saturday morning. I am honored to be invited by the President of Fuller, Dr. Richard Mouw, to give Benediction at the end of the Commencement to 500 graduates and 5,000 guests. It is such an honor and encouragement to me and my family!

This morning one of the headline in USA Today is this "Perhaps Miami can't take the heat" and it's about NBA. It' fully that the NBA team of Miami is "Heat" and they may not be able to take the heat of their opponent!

What I got from Jesus today is that we have to experience so many "heat" in our life time even drought but if we are not stubborn and unfaithful but be teachable and faithful then we can take the "heat" any time it comes and will never worry in anything to pull us into darkness and insecurity.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be as close as we can to you daily so that we can take any heat and not worry any more. You are our Shepherd and we will not want anything but "ONLY YOU". In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
