Today's Reading: Jeremiah 20

If you would like to learn a simple and good way of Daily Devotion method please read my “Count Down 5” from this blog. You may click this link directly for the method: Subject Shifting Devotion.pdf. Please click the links below to Jeremiah 20:

"Sing to the Lord!
Give praise to the Lord!
He rescues the life of the needy from the hands of the wicked.

Cursed be the day I was born!
May the day my mother bore me not be blessed!"
Jeremiah 20: 13-14

Bible Study

Jeremiah expresses conflicting emotions of intense grief and deep depression on the one hand, and deep faith and trust in God on the other.

Jeremiah was beaten, probably with 40 lashes according to Deuteronomy 25: 2-3, " If the guilty man deserves to be beaten, the judge shall make him lie down and have him flogged in his presence with the number of lashes his crime deserves, but he must not give him more than forty lashes. If he is flogged more than that, your brother will be degraded in your eyes."

After all we are just human, we may someday have this kind of conflicting emotions like Jeremiah. If we have total trust in God, we can meet with this kind of severe challenge.

Are you ready for this? Do you know you can't get away from persecutions if you want to speak for God!

My Spiritual Journal

What I receive from Jesus is: Conflicting emotions! It's OK!

At last I can show you some of the pictures Ignatius took last Friday(the hooding ceremony) and Saturday (Fuller Commencement). I took those picture in the church and at the back of the stage because I was waiting to go forward to give Benediction at the end of the ceremony.

What has those pictures to do with this chapter? A lot!
If you know what I have been the past six years since I started my Fuller D. Min. program you should know that I have been in quite a number of major attack somewhat like Jeremiah's flogging, beating, accusing, bad-mouthing and judging. It really is not easy to go through all those challenges. But, see those smiles in the pictures. Jesus led us through in a very special way!

Don't be sad when you have that kind of conflicting emotions, it happens! They are just challenges to bring you to a new and higher level that you can serve the Lord in a wider and deeper level. And that you may have a chance to taste the fruit with JOY! Joy is our "signature"!

Thank you for your daily prayers that we can have those smiles, joyful smiles!!!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us not to be afraid of severe challenges knowing that you have your good plan for us. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
