Bible Study

This chapter showing us that Jerusalem as a wife of God. She had nothing at first and the husband gave her everything. But she was ungrateful and took everything for granted, became ungrateful and began committing adultery with anyone who came along and enticed her. Because of her prostitution, she would suffer the most extreme consequences. is a short chapter but a useful and meaningful chapter.

To read this long chapter is a sad and painful experience. The Israelites not only committed spiritual adultery, but they also participated in physical sexual immorality. They followed the deviant practices of Canaanite religions, which involved temple prostitution, other ungodly fertility rituals and participated in child sacrifices and all kinds of detestable practices.

What I got from Jesus today is: Jerusalem, a prostitute!

I still remember hearing an anointed Christian leader scolding another Christian leader as a "prostitute"! Because his act was just the same as those people in this chapter, selling himself to ungodly scheme! I was shock at that time seeing that happen. After that I have a new understanding on what does "prostitute" or "whore" means.

We may think that we would never do that. But, it's so easy to step into the same trap the Devil set to Jerusalem. Watch out, don't be a "whore" like Jerusalem!

Dear Lord Jesus,

Help us to be always faithful to you doing your Kingdom work. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
