Bible Study

This is a weird chapter because it states the sin of the ruler of Tyre(Sidon was the mother city of Tyre) but it appears to have an indirect description of Satan as the true ruler of Tyre and the god of this world.

It is pride that led the ruler of Tyre thinking that he was a god. It is pride that led Satan from a visitor to the Garden of Eden (v. 13), a guardian cherub, an angel (v. 14) and a blameless creature in all his ways until wickedness was found in him (v. 15). Because of his sinful pride (v. 17), he was driven out from God and thrown down to earth (vv. 16-17).

How do you link the sin of pride with the ruler of Tyre and Satan? What have you got?

My Spiritual Journal

What I got from Jesus today is: Ah, that's why! Your pride!

For three chapter Ezekiel delivered the prophesy against Tyre, and Sidon at the end of this chapter. Pride always make human beings think and act as god! It reminds me of how those great nation fell and just like vaporized. Herod, Caesar, Hitler ...all of them were full of pride thinking that they could conquer the world, and yet they perished in such a haste.

This chapter also hinted that all of those rulers who wants to be god are somewhat control by Satan making use of money, business, beauty in perfection to lord the others.

We really need to be very careful in order not to fall into this deadly and evil trap of pride! We really need to follow Jesus example of "gentle and humble in heart" (Matthew 11: 29).

Are you full of pride or gentle and humble in heart?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us not to step into the trap of pride. Lead us to follow your example to be gentle and humble in heart so that we can bear much fruits. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
