Message:
"Keep all my decrees and all my laws and follow them. I am the Lord." Leviticus 19: 37
Today someone told me that one of his friends is following my blog to have his daily devotion. His friend said that it is really very difficult to read and understand Leviticus. But as a leader of a church, he needs to have the patience to read on, even though sometimes he does not understand.
I think after this chapter today, you may think that you need to stop tomorrow until my blog comes to maybe Deuteronomy, a more interesting and useful book. So, Leviticus is "useless"? And you want to stop for it does not apply to your life? No, don't do that.
Yes, there are lots of sacrificial system laws and some hygiene regulations that God wanted His people to follow, but we do not do that now. And there are ethical laws that we need to follow even now. So, which are those we need to follow and those we don't? You should know it. Say in verse 19, "Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material." Do you follow this? You don't need to buy clothes anymore, for it would be hard for you to find those materials now.
What I heard today is how much effort God exerted to tell, train and test His people so that they live out a life in which God is their Lord and their God. Whenever I come to this kind of passages, I see the training officer for new soldiers yielding loudly, "What, what do you say?" "Yes, Sir. Aye, Aye Sir." "What? I can't hear? Louder!" "Yes, Sir, Aye, Aye Sir." "What? Louder! Louder!" "Yes, Sir. Aye, Aye Sir."
God used those method in Moses' time, and He uses same, similar or different methods now to us. God always has His tailored-made method to tell, train and test us. Do you know how to say, "Yes, Sir. Aye, Aye Sir"?
Dear Lord Jesus,
You are my Lord and my God. Yes, Sir. Aye, Aye Sir. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
My son, Ignatius, completed his three weeks mission in Ethiopia a few days ago.We are so joyful to welcome him home and know that he experienced God mightily in that three weeks.
