Today’s Reading: Acts 24

Please read Acts 24: 1 – 27 and listen to what the Lord Jesus Christ would like to tell you before reading my Spiritual Journal below. When two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, but because Felix wanted to grant a favor to the Jews, he left Paul in prison. Acts 24:27

When God says 'wait', then we wait. There must be a reason for God to make us wait. Paul was being put into the prison at Caesarea because Governor Felix wanted to grant a favor to the Jews. What was God’s purpose to make Paul wait for two years? Nobody can fully understand but at least what it says in Acts 9:15 what happened during Paul's two years of waiting:

But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel” Acts 9: 15

According to Acts 24: 24-26, Felix and his wife Drusilla listened to Paul about faith in Christ Jesus for two years, and yet they rejected the message. Only Paul knew why he had to wait for those two years. When God wants you to wait, do you have faith not to ask why, but just wait for God’s time to be doing God’s work?

I just went with Rev. Edmund Ho(Rector of Toronto Emmanuel Church)to pray for our friends Pastor Jonathan Li and his wife Mary. Mary is going to have a six to ten hours surgery this Friday to remove a 8cm tumor from her brain. Jonathan said if the operation goes well, then Mary has to wait for three months to recover. Let’s pray for Mary and Jonathan, for their daughters Anna and Esther. Let’s cover them with our love and prayers so that the waiting will be a fruitful one.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Prepare my heart to have a total trust in you so that when you say 'wait', I wait for you. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
