That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Jesus prompted me to remember a scene half a year ago. I was having my daily devotion at London Heathrow Airport, ready to go home after a visit with my son Ignatius to my spiritual father, Rev. Dr. John Stott in July 2009. A gentleman came and sat beside me when he saw I was reading the Bible. He asked, “Are you a Christian?” He said, “Oh, that is so wonderful. I am a Baptist pastor.” Then we shared lots of things about the Bible and our faith. After sometime, he knew that I was an Anglican priest and he started to ask me some hard questions about salvation and theology. Then he knew that I was about to be consecrated to be a bishop and his face got pale and talked to me in a quite rough manner. After half an hour he smiled and said, “Bishop Silas, you are OK. You are being saved!”

Can you imagine how sad I felt at that time! A Baptist pastor needed to have half an hour to question whether an Anglican bishop is being saved or not! And I don’t think that he was arrogant. I think he was just very concerned.

Who are you? Are you OK and being saved or are you a disobedient and obstinate Christian?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for saving me! Help me to be an obedient and teachable disciple of you. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
