The chief priests and Jewish leaders urgently requested Festus, as a favor to them , to have Paul transferred to Jerusalem, for they were preparing an ambush to kill him along the way. Acts 25:3

Have you ever fallen into an ambush planned by people around you to bring you down? If you have, then you know what I mean. If you have not, then you need to know that some day it may happen.

In the midst of an ambush planned by high ranking religious leaders with the new Roman governor Festus wishing to do those leaders a favor, Paul was being protected in a very special way. There was no angel that appeared nor any 'good' people named in the whole chapter. Instead this chapter emphasizes the names and faces of people who were not on Paul’s side. Yet God gave Paul to have another chance to be in contact with a rare group of dignities, “high ranking officers, and the leading men of the city”(Acts 25: 23).

Why are we so easily discouraged or even afraid when facing with an attack from forces of evil. Even in the situation of facing of an ambush, we can get through if we are with Jesus. But the question is: are we with Jesus when those times come?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Open my eyes to see you and open my heart so that I can be with you daily. In the time of distress or even when facing an ambush, may I will have the peace to trust in you, and may your will be done. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
